Reporting Requirements for Employers and Health Plans
The Affordable Care Act (ACA) created a number of federal reporting requirements for employers and health plans. The additional reporting is intended to promote transparency with respect to health plan coverage and costs.
Form W-2 Reporting Requirements
This reporting requirement was originally effective for the 2011 tax year (for the Forms W-2 due by the end of January 2012). However, the IRS made reporting optional for 2011 for all employers. In addition, the IRS made the reporting requirement.
FACA 2019 Compliance Checklist
Certain changes to some ACA requirements take effect in 2019 for employers sponsoring group health plans, such as increased dollar limits. To prepare for 2019, employers should review upcomingrequirements and develop a compliance strategy.
ACA Implementation FAQ’s
As the various ACA provisions become effective, the Departments have periodically issued new sets of FAQs to address new questions that have arisen. The existing FAQs are not updated by the Departments, but rather, are replaced or superseded, as necessary. As a result, some of the information in the Departments’ FAQ guidance is out-of-date.
ACA Reporting Flow Chart
Understanding your obligations under ACA Reporting can be confusing. Use this flow chart to help you determine which tax forms you need to provide to employees and to the IRS.
