The numbers are clear – health insurance premiums have increased at a rate that far outstrips the rise in worker’s earnings or overall inflation. In fact, over a 20-year period, the cost of hospital services has risen over 200% - that is a far greater increase than even college tuition and fees.
The unaffordability of healthcare is one of the many reasons why we and a group of like-minded businesses in our area came together to build Summit Employers Health Center in South Burlington. We have put together a panel that includes leaders from each organization that made the decision to move forward on this innovative project as well as some personal perspectives from employees who have used the health center. The panel will discuss their reasons for joining the Health Center, their employees’ experience in using it and how the Center fits into their overall health plan and organizational strategy.
The goal of this panel is to educate employers on Health Centers, using the South Burlington Health Center as a real-life, local example and provide options for other local employers who are ready to do something different when it comes to health care.
