Brenda Sabin, CBP, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, CHRS

Director of HR Compliance & Payroll Solutions at Hickok & Boardman HR Intelligence

Brenda Sabin joined Hickok & Boardman HR Intelligence in 2013 and has worked in the field of human resources and payroll for over twenty seven years. Currently she is the Director of HR Compliance & Payroll Solutions bringing knowledge, experience and leadership to clients and HR and Payroll associations across the State of Vermont and New England.

Previous to Hickok & Boardman she was the Operations Director at an HR compliance database organization, and prior to that, she was the Payroll and Benefits Manager for a major and rapidly growing national company based in Vermont. This growth and its ensuing challenges enabled Brenda to gain expertise in benefits, payroll, regulatory compliance, and best practice procedures in HR administration.

After leaving the corporate world in 2003, Brenda founded Key Concepts, LLC, training and consulting business which she successfully ran for 10 years. Key Concepts, LLC was an organization dedicated to providing a wide array of benefits, communications and awareness programs for employees of small to medium sized organizations.

Brenda has traveled the US for companies such as National Seminars providing training on payroll and taxation of fringe benefits. She also teaches Payroll 101 courses and is a speaker at many payroll conferences. She is the Past President of the Green Mountain Payroll Association. She is also an active member of the Government Relations Task Force connected to the IRS for any updates and comments on new procedures and taxability discussions.

Kerin Stackpole, SPHR

Kerin Stackpole leads the Employment + Labor Law Group. She provides practical and proactive advice to senior leaders and management teams regarding a wide range of labor and employment issues, including workforce planning, hiring and on-boarding, performance management, legal and recordkeeping compliance, leave management, employee engagement, policy development and implementation, union avoidance, and discipline and discharge. Kerin firmly believes that the best defense against legal claims begins well before those claims are made – with positive and continuous employee engagement, good education for supervisors and managers, fair and consistent practices, and solid documentation.

Kerin is also an experienced litigator and a skilled teacher. She has taught at several law schools and colleges on the East Coast, and she regularly designs and presents training programs for businesses and municipalities seeking to strengthen the skills of their management team.
